How Often to Visit Your Local Veterinarian

Local Veterinarian

As pet parents, pet care is something your pets count on from you. You make sure they have food and water, a comfortable place to sleep, and that they see a veterinarian regularly. At All Care Animal Clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida, we offer all the pet care services you need to keep your pet healthy.

Routine Pet Care

Having a veterinarian you trust is vital. For most pets, a yearly visit will be what you arrange. When you have a veterinarian, they will send you a reminder, frequently in the form of a postcard, when you are due in for a visit.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are important for pet care. It begins when they are puppies and kittens and continues as long as they are alive. The only vaccine you are required to have for both your cats and dogs in Florida is the rabies vaccine, which must be administered for the first time before your pet is 4 months old. You are required to keep it up to date thereafter. Non-core vaccines will be recommended depending on what your pet does. If they go to a groomer, pet daycare, or are boarded, they will need to have a Bordetella vaccine.

Spay and Neutering

Your veterinarian will also recommend that you have your pet spayed or neutered, usually at about 6 months old. It often makes for a healthier and happier pet. Once your pet is an adult, a yearly visit will typically be adequate for routine care until they are a senior, when the recommendation is usually every six months. If your pet has any chronic condition, more frequent visits may be called for. Discuss with your vet how often your pet needs to be seen.
